Greenville Wedding Photographer | Jarrod & Sandra :)

I always love photography the ceremony but I have an equal love for portrait and reception time!!!  Portrait time because I get to photograph the bride & groom with some of the dearest people in the lives and one another.  Reception… well because I’m a people watcher and love to just sit back and watch people (and usually at a reception it’s even more fun b/c they are having fun :) :) ).  If you missed part I of Sandra & Jarrod’s wedding day you can take a look by clicking here… There wedding just had way too many photos that I wanted to share for me to just have one blog post so this is part II!!!  I started the formal portraits inside the church and very quickly decided that since it was nice out we were heading outdoors and I am SOOOOOO glad we did because I would much rather shoot in natural light!!!  It was a cloudy day so I really was able to shoot wherever I wanted.  We did most of the photos right outside the front of the church (this church and it’s rock work are BEAUTIFUL and I thought they would be a great backdrop for these photos!!!).

Let me start off by saying I have a certain way I line the bridal party up and in this instance after they were lined up I realized that I’d totally placed them in height order!! (OOPPS!!!!  It was totally not intentional but they all got a laugh out of it… they probably just thought I was crazy… but these five guys were a lot of fun!!)

Kendra Martin Photography | Greenville Wedding Photographer | Spartanburg Wedding PhotographerKendra Martin Photography | Greenville Wedding Photographer | Spartanburg Wedding PhotographerThen to probably my favorite time of the day… Photos with JUST Sandra & Jarrod!!!  I always love photographing the bride on her wedding day!!  Sandra was so beautiful and I love that we were able to get her a few bridals!!!!

Kendra Martin Photography | Greenville Wedding Photographer | Spartanburg Wedding PhotographerJarrod… well these two photos are TOTALLY him… smiley but then also his “serious”/don’t make me crack a smile face!!! :) :)  I love getting a few of just the groom as well!!

Kendra Martin Photography | Greenville Wedding Photographer | Spartanburg Wedding PhotographerThen of course the two of them together.  Sandra & Jarrod made sure we had time to get more than just a few photos of the two of them on their wedding day (which if you’re a bride I would 100% suggest giving me or whoever your photographer is at least 20-30 minutes of picture time with just you and your groom… yeah the other shots with family and the bridal party are important… but this day is really about the two of you, the two of you becoming man and wife, the two of you starting this new chapter… so make time to have just the two of you and your love documented on your wedding day!!!)… back to what I was saying :)… they gave me a good chunk of time to take photos and I’m soo soo soo soo glad they did because we were able to get some great photos that hopefully will go all over their house ;)!!!!

Kendra Martin Photography | Greenville Wedding Photographer | Spartanburg Wedding PhotographerI love the way they make each other smile!!!!

Thank y’all for letting me into your lives!!!!  I’m soo looking forward to keeping up with y’all and seeing what the future holds for y’all!!!  Keep making each other smile and laugh… y’alls laughter & smiles are contagious!!!

Greenville Wedding Photographer | Sandra & Jarrod

Since I photographed Sandra & Jarrod’s engagement photos back in May I had been looking forward to their wedding day.  These two are so much fun to be around and even before meeting the two of them in person had me feeling like they were close friends & so I knew when December rolled around it was going to be such a joy to photograph their special day.  I headed back to Houston for a long weekend to photograph this wedding, spend time with family, and photograph lots of other amazing families while I was there… IT WAS A CRAZY BUSY WEEKEND… BUT I loved it!!  If you’ve read any of my blog posts from sessions that happened that weekend you’ll know that the weather was super sketchy and there was no telling what it was going to do.  Saturday morning rolled around and it was beautiful, and Saturday afternoon when I arrived at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church the skies had darkened and once again I was thinking about where to do the portraits if it rained.  I can go ahead and say it…. IT DIDN’T RAIN!!! :) the cold front just blew through and it was a good day!!!!

Sandra & Jarrod welcomed me back to Texas with big hugs upon my arrival at the church!!  Boy was it good to see them again & it was so much fun just documenting them and their families as they finished getting the last minute details together & then got themselves into their wedding garb!!!  I so loved Sandra’s dress & I love that she paired her wedding dress with her boots!!!  There was so much about the wedding day that I enjoyed!!  Once dressed and a few photos were taken it was time for Sandra & Jarrod to get married!!!  I have been to quite a few Catholic ceremonies before but this was the first where I was allowed to walk around a little more freely and document what was going on.  If you know me, you’ll know I’m a total rule follower so part of me just wanted to plant myself in the back of the church since that’s where SOOOOOO many churches require a photographer to stand and stay put during the ceremonies but I DEFINITELY took advantage of this churches rules and walked around a little (all while still trying to be super discrete because this is a holy ceremony and union and I NEVER EVER want to distract from that).  All of that to say, because I was able to get closer and walk around a little there were so many things that I saw that made this service so special and it really was an honor to photograph it for Sandra & Jarrod!!!

Here are a handful of images from Sandra & Jarrod’s wedding day!!!  I’ll be back later in the week to share portraits & their reception!!!!!!

Casey - Glad the weather held out for you and you had a bit more movement in the church than normal – it all paid off! These are great!

Greenville Wedding Photographer | Wedding Festival

I knew with our move to the Greenville & Spartanburg area I would need to try something new in regards to getting my name out there and getting in front of brides and other clients.  In Texas I had an automatic in with being part of a church and then working for rather large church and I was just starting my business…. but moving here I already had my business started so it has been all about just meeting people and getting my name out there.  Sure I have worked on my SEO and all that fun jazz but I knew that couldn’t be the only thing I did.  I had done a little research about the area before moving and saw that there was a company called Wedding Festivals that holds bridal shows a number of times throughout the year in the upstate area.  The last time I had even stepped foot in a bridal show was as a bride in 2007 and I knew things had changed a tad bridal show wise since then so I knew I needed to check out a show and see if this was something I should do for Kendra Martin Photography.  In September I popped in to the Greenville show that is held at the TD Convention center and was blown away.  I was blown away by the setups but more so by the vendors and fellow photographers that just welcomed me to this area!!  I literally did a walk through and walked out because A.  I wasn’t a bride and B.  I didn’t want to take up any vendors time chatting (thank you to the few of you that were kind enough to let me say hello and chat for a few minutes!!) and C.  Upon entering the show I knew it was something I needed to be part of/give a try.

After MONTHS of planning and going back and forth on ideas and looking at what sooooo many other vendors have done at shows I nailed down what I wanted to do for Kendra Martin Photography.  I had a lot of help with picking out photos, finding the right furniture pieces, with painting the furniture, creating the marketing (for all of you that received countless messages from me about my marketing… THANK You for putting up with), to all the little details that I was figuring out the last weeks/days leading up to the show.  On January 2nd Gary & I headed to the Hyatt in downtown Greenville to set up.  Y’all it was a COLD and RAINY afternoon but we were greeted by the staff of Wedding Festivals and quickly got to work unloading and setting up.  I really loved where my booth was located, the only thing I hated about it was that it was located right near the loading door so after 1.5 hours of setting up my fingers & nose were FROZEN… like frozen to where when we got in the car they were hurting from the heat thawing them out… Gary, thank you for all your help and support with this show and the shows to come!!!

Early the next morning my good friend Emily arrived at my house and we headed down to Greenville!!!  Y’all I was a whole bunch of nerves and butterflies and so glad we found a great parking spot, got their early, put the last minute details in place and were ready to go with time to spare!!!  Emily, THANK YOU for being willing to put up with me that morning and helping me ALL day and for being my right hand, I couldn’t have done that Saturday without you by my side!!!  The doors opened at 10 and yep I was still a ball of nerves until we chatted with the first bride & groom that visited the booth and then I slowly started to feel at ease… and Emily did a great job of helping me be more at ease as the morning went on!!!  For those next 5 hours we talked to sooooooo many amazing and wonderful brides and had such a great time doing it.  I loved meeting so many amazing couples that are getting married and getting to hear their stories and all about their weddings!!  I loved getting to meet and see so many amazing vendors that are right here in the Upstate!! SOO looking forward to working with and alongside many of them as I start photographing weddings here in Greenville & Spartanburg.  That Saturday was a LONG day (and I may have felt like I was hit by a mac truck when it was all said and done) but it was an amazing day and I am sooo thankful that I did it!! Doing that show definitely got my feet wet for the two other shows I’m taking part in in the weeks to come!!!  If you’re a bride or vendor and you’re at the Spartanburg or Greenville shows coming up PLEASE come say hello, I’d love to meet you and chat!!!

Marc & Colleen, I don’t know how to thank y’all enough for putting these shows on so that people like me can meet brides and other vendors!!! So excited to see y’all again on the 24th in Spartanburg!!!

And because no blog post is complete without photos here are a few instagram photos that Gary & I snapped with our phones while setting up and what not!!

Spartanburg Photographer | Tanya

I am mixing things up a bit and taking a break from posting fun families and posting this beautiful lady today!!  I can’t pin point the exact moment when I met Tanya, but it was a while back and I am ohh so thankful that God placed her and her family in my life!!  Tanya is such a sweet sweet woman of God & it has been such a joy to get to know her over the years.  She was always a face I sought out on Sunday mornings at church and boy have I missed seeing her and keeping up with her & her crazy bunch of men that she calls hers!!!  Tanya is mom to four boys (well they will kill me for calling them boys :) but when you’re a fellow mom you can do that sort of thing) and the three youngest (especially the two youngest… whom I got to know when I helped with the youth group at our church in Texas they both were in high school at the time so I was able to get to know the two of them) have been so much fun to get to know over the years (the oldest was already out of the house when I met them)!!  I have photographed two of Tanya & Jeff’s sons senior photos and last December had the privilege of photographing them as an entire family, I have loved getting to know and become friends with this family & having this family in front of my camera over the years!!  Tanya contacted me back in August when I was in town to photograph a wedding and asked me to go ahead and get just her on my calendar in December and I was sooo soo excited… Y’all having just Tanya in front of my camera was a treat!!!  I loved getting to spend time with her (even if it was for a super short amount of time) and seeing her laugh and just be her!!  Tanya, you are a beautiful woman inside & out and I am soo very honored to call you a friend.  Thank you for wanting me to take photos of you, I LOVED it!!!!
